Preserving the past for the future.

General Operating Support

Your gift for general operating support goes toward supporting the ongoing activities of Fort Nisqually Living History Museum, including education programming, artifact conservation and historical interpretation.

Some of the ways the Foundation supports Fort Nisqually Living History Museum . . .

The Fort Nisqually Foundation provided funding for the

   professional restoration of the Fort's

historic 19th century buggy. This mode of

transportation would have been typical of

what Dr. William Fraser Tolmie would have used in the

   19th century around Fort Nisqually.

Children's Activities

A highlight of each year's Brigade Encampment is a Punch and Judy performance for children of all ages. Funding from the Foundation allowed our Punch performer, Kelsey Boyce, to attend advanced training in London, England. Her shows continue to enthrall visitors year after year.

  Building Preservation

The Foundation provided funding for the restoration of      the 1850 Granary building in 2014. The restoration     of the 1855 Factor's House won national (American     Association of State and Local History) and state        (Washington Museums Association) awards for           preservation excellence in 2004.

For the past twenty years the Foundation has provided financial support to the Candlelight Tour, Brigade Encampment, Christmas Regale and all the Living History Special Event Days throughout the year.

The Foundation was instrumental in the furnishing of Fort Nisqually's Research Library. Thanks to generous donors, the Foundation purchased a microfilm reader, computer, book shelves, filing cabinets and other media items necessary to facilitate the ongoing study of northwest history.
